PANELLIST PROFILES

  • SHARE MATCHING. Paul Varcoe, Chief Executive, BritDAQ – an online trading community for private companies and their investors. Co-Founder, EasyScreen. Ex-Non-Executive Chairman at Intelligent Risk. Ex-Army platoon commander and Mechanical Engineering graduate, Paul trained as an options trader, eventually heading up trading teams at Swiss Bank Corporation and Salomon Brothers in London. In 1998, after 11 years as an independent trader on the trading floor of LIFFE, he co-founded Easyscreen PLC, a trading software company, which he took from a start-up with 10 private shareholders to a full LSE listing and a market cap of more than £250m. After leaving EasyScreen, he increasingly became involved in funding start-up companies, as well as advising smaller companies who needed refinancing or reorganization. He also spent time as a proprietary trader at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, where he was involved in analysing smaller companies and their businesses. BritDAQ was formed in late 2009, by a small group of entrepreneurs that could see that the public stock markets were not helping smaller companies and their investors.
